The bike runs well but requires some attention: Tuning, paint work, instrument mounting solution, speedo cable, electric cabling detailing & tidy up, new tires (still 1986).

I have fitted new Tommaselli clip-on bars (fully adjustable), new Gowanloch replica full Conti exhaust system and modified headlight to fork mount (Tommaselli) naked style. Engine number 903320 1 860, frame DGM 13715 OM DM 860 SS * 903614 * I have owned this bike since 1982 and purchased it already modified with Imola duck tail seat and red/yellow paint.

This is a genuine SSD with factory clip-on bars, half fairing, rear set pegs, Dellorto PMH 40 carburetors and Conti exhausts making 77HP. SELLER SAYS: 1979 SSD Ducati Darmah for sale. Excellent condition, new carburettors, new K81 tyres and tubes, stainless steel spokes, new battery, spare set of brand new headers, American bars and original owners hand book. Imported from Baxters Cycles USA in 2017, only 4,652 miles. SELLER SAYS: 1975 Triumph Trident T160 for sale. This bike of Peter’s looks like a wonderful survivor, surely destined for a future of occasional use and frequent admiration. And while the bevel drive has long-since surrendered to cheaper-to-manufacture belt drive technology, the desmodromic valve management - in which the valves are opened and closed mechanically rather than using springs - remains with us even today, albeit helped with much modern engine-breathing witch-craft and even a spring or two in some cases.

But even when the Japanese bikes evolved to clearly occupy a different league in straight-line performance to the Ducati, there was nothing they could do to match the beautiful bodywork, elegant lines and glorious V-twin (sorry, L-twin) music from Dellorto carbs on the way in and Conti exhausts on the way out. The bevel/desmo combination were the signature technologies to Ducati’s sports bikes through the 1970s and ’80s, driving respectable performance from an engine that was otherwise badly outdated compared with the multi-cylinder offerings coming out of Japan. Cylinder head and crankcase have been aqua-blasted so it looks great, and it starts and runs beautifully. Have owned since 2012 and had engine rebuilt by Vee Two Australia (re-bored, new piston kit, valves, digital ignition kit etc) so everything works as it should. SELLER SAYS: Selling my 1981 Ducati 900SS.
